Pour info Dominique ----- Message transféré de Andrea Emilio Rizzoli <andrea@idsia.ch> ----- Date : Fri, 14 Oct 2005 09:55:37 +0200 De : Andrea Emilio Rizzoli <andrea@idsia.ch> Adresse de retour :Andrea Emilio Rizzoli <andrea@idsia.ch> Sujet : [iEMSs-news] Invitation to iEMSs 2006: a Summit on Environmental Modelling and Software (for Sustainability) À : iemss-news@iemss.org A Summit on Environmental Modelling and Software (for Sustainability) will be held in Burlington, Vermont from July 9-12, 2006 (see http:// www.iemss.org/summit ). It incorporates the Third Biennial Meeting of the International Environmental Modelling and Software Society. The aim of the Summit is to enhance sustainability outcomes and decision processes by: * Establishing the state-of-the-art in Environmental Modelling and Software theory and practice for integrated assessment and management * Identifying research and practice for advancing the requisite knowledge base and tools, and their wider usage * Initiating and consolidating research partnerships for systematic studies that acquire, capture and generate knowledge platforms The Summit is built around a very innovative program of workshops (some 15 at present), as well as the more standard sessions (another 15 or so) with presentations. We refer you to the website and accompanying blog to examine which existing workshops and/or sessions you may wish to join - in which case you should contact the organisers of that session and join the blog. Workshops are designed to inspire discussions on most important topics in the field. Organisers will produce a rough draft of a Position Paper on the issues (opportunities, challenges etc.) by the end of November. All workshop participants would at least be required to have an abstract and may join in the review and authorship of the Position Paper. These papers and abstracts will be peer-reviewed and pre-published in the Summit Proceedings before the Summit. We will reserve at least one book in the Elsevier IDEA Series (http:// www.elsevier.com/wps/find/bookdescription.cws_home/BS_IDEA/ description) that will publish a chapter on the findings of each workshop and their Papers. For standard sessions there will be a more formal structure where there is a 20 minute slot for presentation, and FULL papers for these are mandatory, albeit with a timeline of February 2006 for submission to reviewers. We have reserved several special issues of international journals for a selection of the Proceedings Papers. Please do join us in this new style of meeting. And the convener, Alexey Voinov, and I would be pleased to field any inquiries on the Summit. Very best wishes, Tony Jakeman President Alexey Voinov Convenor P.S. Burlington lies on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain between the Adirondack and Green Mountains. Burlington is one of America's most livable cities. And, by the way, it issued a resolution in 2002 opposing the unilateral military action against Iraq. There are great opportunities for hiking and camping in Vermont in Summer. Please consider staying a few days longer to enjoy the mountains, forests and lakes of Vermont. -- This message has been sent to you by: Andrea Emilio Rizzoli IDSIA - Istituto Dalle Molle di Studi sull'Intelligenza Artificiale Galleria 2 CH-6928 Manno - Switzerland Ph: +41-(0)91-6108664 Fax: +41-(0)91-6108661 E-mail andrea@idsia.ch http://www.idsia.ch/~andrea and Alexey Voinov Gund Institute for Ecological Economics & Computer Science Department University of Vermont, 617 Main Street, Burlington, VT 05405-0088 E-mail: alexey.voinov@uvm.edu TEL: 802 656 2985 WWW: http://giee.uvm.edu/AV FAX: 802 656 2995 Summit on Env.
